10 Tips for Healthy Travel

When you're on the road, remaining as sharp as a tack is an absolute necessity but instead it ends up becoming a challenge. You never know when you'll end up encountering sleep disruption, bumpy rides, or food poisoning.

There's also a chance of you catching viruses and colds due to increased exposure to the outer world. To top it all off, there's a high chance you'll end up missing out on your exercise routine. All this can expose you to numerous germs, makes you prone to diseases, and turn you into this grumpiest version of yourself.

So, whether you are aiming to be consistent in staying as healthy as possible or just want your senses to remain intact while you're exploring your dream destination, here are 10 tips for you to be your healthiest version while you are traveling:

1. Stay Hydrated! It goes without saying but it's also, almost always, the most overlooked aspect when it comes to traveling. Primarily because you don't want any unintended nature calls. But here's a tip: Drink loads of water the night before the flight and as you reach your hotel room the next day, make sure to get up to pace on the hydration. Also, try to invest in a water bottle that you can refill wherever it's possible.

2. Hand Sanitizer ft. Mask

For the past year, everybody in the world realized the importance of saving yourself from germs and viruses. It's not just about COVID-19 – having a hand sanitizer at all times and keeping a mask on in crowded places will always save you from being regretful in the future.

3. Quick Workout Sessions

Have a quick 20-minutes run before that most anticipated meal of the day. Make use of the gym facility at the hotel you're staying at. It will keep your metabolism strong and working well.

4. Bring Your Workout Gear

If you want to save your time and have that guilty pleasure of not working out properly while you travel, just keep your skipping rope with you or a mat, perhaps. Don't forget to bring a pair of running shoes and some workout pants!

5. A Bag of Medical Supplies Comes Handy

Just in case, assemble a quick kit of medical supplies that includes some pain relievers, antibiotics, and band-aids and keep it with you.

6. Beat the Jet Lag First

Utilize caffeine-free teas and regulate your sleep cycle once you reach your destination. Jetlag can derail you and illusion you into enjoying the trip when you're actually just tired. So, make sure to put this demon out of the way.

7. Limit The Alcohol and Sugar

Alcohol and sugar give you an artificial dose of dopamine, which makes you tired in the long run. Avoid satisfying your cravings for sweet-tooth and alcoholic beverages.

8. Take Breaks

Don't overdo it. You've got one life, sure. But you want to make the most out of your trip. If a certain situation puts you in a stressful mood, take precautions in advance, avoid it. Don't like making hotel reservations at the last minute? Have a sorted-out travel itinerary. Don't want to get exhausted looking for your Uber when you're carrying all that luggage? Book an airport shuttle in advance!

9. Sleep On-time – Most Important

One thing that is for certain is that if you don't get enough sleep, you'll get tired. If you are tired, not only will you not be able to enjoy the trip but your immune system will actively make you prone to harmful organisms around you.

10. Healthy Food Only

Last but not least, avoid going for oily foods or foods that are generally hard to digest. The key is to not burden your stomach more than it is trained for at home.
